FAQ-Everything You Need to Know
About the Brand
Is Bruno’s Wild Essentials an Indian brand or a foreign brand?
Bruno’s Wild Essentials is proudly an Indian brand, founded and headquartered in Tamil Nadu. We have been serving Indian pet families for over 10 years.
Our dry dog food is manufactured in Belgium to ensure the highest nutritional standards, while our wet food, treats, and supplements are crafted in our own in-house kitchen in India — giving you the perfect blend of world-class quality and local care.
Why should I trust Bruno’s over international pet food brands?
Bruno’s Wild Essentials was built by Indian pet parents, for Indian pet parents. We have spent over a decade understanding the specific health needs, climatic conditions, and dietary habits of pets in India.
Our dry food recipes meet AAFCO nutritional standards and are manufactured in Belgium with the same quality benchmarks used for European pet food. Our in-house wet food, treats, and supplements are crafted fresh with hand-selected ingredients under strict hygiene standards.
How long has Bruno’s Wild Essentials been operating?
Bruno’s Wild Essentials has been proudly serving Indian pet families for over 10 years. What started as a passion for animal nutrition has grown into a trusted name in premium pet food, built entirely on product quality and the love of our community.
Is Bruno’s pet food safe? Do you test your products?
Absolutely. Safety is our highest priority. Our dry dog food is manufactured in Belgium under internationally recognized food safety standards. Our wet food and treats are produced in our in-house kitchen under hygienic, carefully controlled conditions. All formulations are designed to meet AAFCO nutritional guidelines.
Are Bruno’s products suitable for Indian weather and climatic conditions?
Yes. Bruno’s products are regularly fed to thousands of dogs and cats across India — from Chennai to Ladakh — with excellent results. Our wet food uses Retort Technology to stay safely shelf-stable without artificial preservatives even in warm, humid climates.
How does Bruno’s ensure the quality and safety of its food during manufacturing?
For wet food, we employ Retort Technology — high-heat, high-pressure sterilisation that keeps the food commercially sterile and shelf-stable while locking in natural texture and flavour. For dry food, we use Extrusion Technology — a rapid-cooking process that results in naturally preserved, nutrient-dense, and highly digestible final products.
Before You Switch
I’m not sure my dog will like the taste. What if they don’t eat it?
That’s a very common concern, and completely understandable! Most dogs love Bruno’s Wild Essentials — our recipes use real, high-quality meat as the primary ingredient. We always recommend a gradual 7–10 day transition by mixing a little Bruno’s into their current food and slowly increasing the ratio.
Is this food only for specific breeds, or can any dog eat it?
Bruno’s Wild Essentials has recipes designed for every dog — regardless of breed, size, or life stage. We have specialized formulas for small and mini breed puppies, adults, puppies and juniors, and adult dogs of all breeds and sizes.
My dog has allergies. How do I know which product is safe?
Bruno’s offers a wide range of recipes using single or novel animal proteins — making it easier to avoid specific allergens.
- Chicken-free: Sunburn (Duck, Turkey & Salmon), Adult Lamb, Fish-based wet foods
- Poultry-free: Adult Lamb, Fish-based wet foods
- Grain-free: All our wet food and bone broth range
I’ve heard premium pet food doesn’t make a real difference. Why should I switch?
The difference that quality nutrition makes is very real — and thousands of Bruno’s pet parents see it every day. Within weeks of switching, most pet parents notice firmer stools, a shinier coat, improved energy levels, and a more enthusiastic appetite.
Product Questions
Dry Food
How do I transition my dog from their current food to Bruno’s Dry Food?
We recommend a gradual 7–10 day transition:
- Days 1–3: Mix 25% Bruno’s with 75% current food
- Days 4–6: Mix 50% Bruno’s with 50% current food
- Days 7–9: Mix 75% Bruno’s with 25% current food
- Day 10 onwards: Feed 100% Bruno’s
How should I store Bruno’s Dry Dog Food after opening?
Roll the bag tightly and use the resealable zip lock. For best results, transfer into an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid leaving the bag open in humid climates.
How much should I feed my dog per day?
Daily feeding amounts depend on your dog’s age, weight, and activity level. Each Bruno’s pack has a detailed feeding guide chart on the back. Divide the recommended daily amount into 2 meals for adults (3 for puppies), and adjust based on body condition.
Can I mix Bruno’s Dry Food with wet food or home-cooked food?
Absolutely! You can mix Bruno’s Dry Food with Bruno’s Wet Food (SlurpUp or Pate range), Bruno’s Bone Broth, or small amounts of home-cooked protein like boiled chicken or fish. Just ensure total daily calorie intake remains balanced.
Does Bruno’s Dry Food contain any artificial preservatives or colours?
No. Bruno’s Dry Dog Food contains no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives. It is naturally preserved through the extrusion manufacturing process — real food, real ingredients, nothing your dog doesn’t need.
Which dry food is best for a dog with a chicken allergy?
We recommend:
- Sunburn (Duck, Turkey & Salmon): Completely chicken-free
- Adult Lamb: Free from poultry, corn, wheat, and soy — ideal for multiple sensitivities
Note: Duck and Turkey are poultry proteins. For a broader poultry allergy, Adult Lamb is the safest choice.
Are Bruno’s dry food recipes vet-approved?
Bruno’s dry food recipes are formulated to meet AAFCO nutritional standards — the internationally recognized benchmarks for complete and balanced pet nutrition. We always encourage consulting your vet when making significant dietary changes.
Wet Food
🐱 Cat
How much wet food should I feed my cat per day?
A typical adult cat (3–5 kg) usually needs 2–3 pouches (85g each) per day across 2 meals. Kittens need more frequent, smaller meals — 3–4 times a day. Each pouch includes a feeding guide on the packaging.
Can I feed only wet food to my cat, or should I also give dry food?
Cats can thrive on a wet-food-only diet — it’s high in moisture, protein-rich, and grain-free, close to their natural diet. A mixed approach pairing wet and dry food gives the benefits of both: hydration and protein variety plus dental benefits and convenience.
How do I transition my cat to Bruno’s Wet Food from another brand?
- Days 1–3: Offer Bruno’s alongside the old food as a separate bowl
- Days 4–6: Mix 25–30% Bruno’s into their current food
- Days 7–9: Mix 50% Bruno’s with 50% current food
- Day 10 onwards: Serve Bruno’s as the primary meal
Warming the food slightly can help. If your cat is resistant, try a different flavour or texture.
Are any of Bruno’s Cat Wet Foods suitable for cats with urinary issues?
All Bruno’s Cat Wet Food recipes have a high moisture content — critical for cats prone to urinary tract issues. Our grain-free, low-carbohydrate recipes are also less likely to worsen urinary conditions. If your cat has a diagnosed condition, please consult your veterinarian.
Is Bruno’s Cat Food safe for kittens? What age can they start?
Yes! All Bruno’s Cat Wet Food recipes are suitable for all life stages. For kittens in the weaning stage (4–8 weeks), our soft-textured Chicken Pate or Mousse range are ideal. Our recipes are fortified with Taurine, critical for healthy heart and vision development.
Why is taurine so important for cats, and do all Bruno’s Cat Foods contain it?
Taurine is an essential amino acid cats cannot produce on their own. Without it, cats can develop dilated cardiomyopathy, retinal degeneration, and reproductive issues. Yes — all Bruno’s Cat Wet Food recipes are enriched with Taurine.
What is the difference between the Gravy, Pate, and Mousse textures in Bruno’s Cat Food?
- Gravy style: Tender chunks in a moisture-rich gravy — great for cats that love a meaty bite
- Pate style: Smooth, uniform paste — ideal for picky eaters, kittens, or seniors
- Mousse style: Ultra-smooth and airy — perfect for very picky eaters and senior cats
🐶 Dog
How much wet food should I feed my dog per day?
Bruno’s wet food is typically served as a topper (1–2 pouches per day) alongside dry food, or as a standalone meal for smaller dogs. Each pack includes a feeding guide on the packaging. Our team is happy to help calculate the right portion for your dog.
Can I feed only wet food to my dog, or should I also give dry food?
Dogs can do well on a wet-food-only diet, especially those needing higher hydration, with dental sensitivities, or recovering from illness. Many pet parents prefer a mixed approach — using Bruno’s SlurpUp or Pate as a topper over dry kibble for added moisture, palatability, and protein variety.
How do I transition my dog to Bruno’s Wet Food from another brand?
- Days 1–3: Offer Bruno’s alongside the current food as a small topper
- Days 4–6: Mix 25–30% Bruno’s into their current food
- Days 7–9: Mix 50% Bruno’s with 50% current food
- Day 10 onwards: Serve Bruno’s as the primary meal
Slightly softer stools during transition are normal. If issues persist, our team is happy to guide you.
Are any of Bruno’s Dog Wet Foods suitable for dogs with sensitive stomachs?
Yes. Bruno’s Dog Wet Food recipes use single or limited animal proteins with no artificial additives, corn, wheat, or soy — great for sensitive stomachs. Our grain-free, high-moisture recipes are gentle on digestion. Consult your vet if your dog has a diagnosed condition.
Is Bruno’s Dog Wet Food safe for puppies? What age can they start?
Yes! Bruno’s Dog Wet Food is suitable for all life stages including puppies. For puppies in the weaning stage (4–8 weeks), our soft Pate-style recipes are ideal — easy to eat, gentle on developing digestive systems, and nutritionally complete.
Does Bruno’s Dog Wet Food contain any artificial preservatives or additives?
No. Bruno’s Dog Wet Food contains no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives. It is preserved using Retort Technology — real meat, real ingredients, nothing your dog doesn’t need.
What is the difference between the SlurpUp and Pate ranges in Bruno’s Dog Wet Food?
- SlurpUp (Gravy style): Tender chunks of real meat in a rich gravy — great for dogs that love a saucy meal and need extra hydration
- Pate style: Smooth, uniform paste — ideal for picky eaters, senior dogs, dogs with dental issues, or puppies transitioning to solid food
Both are grain-free, made with real meat, and free from artificial additives.
Bone Broth
🐶 Dog
How much Bone Broth should I give my dog per day?
Bruno’s Bone Broth can be used in several ways:
- As a meal topper: Pour 2–4 tablespoons (30–60 ml) directly over dry kibble or wet food per meal
- As a standalone treat or hydration booster: Offer a small bowl (50–100 ml) separately once or twice a day
- For picky eaters or sick dogs: Can be used more liberally to entice eating
Always start with a smaller amount and observe how your dog responds. Bone Broth is a supplement to a complete diet, not a replacement for meals.
Does Bruno’s Bone Broth need to be refrigerated?
Unopened Bruno’s Bone Broth can be stored at room temperature in a cool, dry place — it is shelf-stable. Once opened, refrigerate any unused portion in an airtight container and use within 3–5 days. Discard any broth that smells off or has an unusual appearance.
Can I give bone broth to a puppy?
Yes! Bruno’s Bone Broth is suitable for puppies of all ages. It supports healthy joint development, encourages hydration, supports a healthy developing gut, and can be mixed into puppy kibble to soften it for very young puppies just starting on solids.
Is Bruno’s Bone Broth the same as regular chicken soup or stock from the kitchen?
Not quite. Human soups and stocks often contain onion, garlic, high levels of salt, and seasonings that are toxic to dogs. Bruno’s Bone Broth is specifically formulated for pets — no added salt, no onion, no garlic, no artificial flavours or preservatives. It is slow-simmered purely to extract collagen, glucosamine, and amino acids in a safe, pet-appropriate way.
Can I use Bone Broth to help my dog recover from illness or surgery?
Yes, Bruno’s Bone Broth is an excellent supportive food during recovery. Its high moisture content helps maintain hydration, the collagen and amino acids support tissue repair and gut healing, and the rich aroma helps entice dogs that have lost their appetite. We always recommend consulting your veterinarian for specific dietary guidance during recovery.
🐱 Cat
Can cats also drink Bruno’s Bone Broth?
While Bruno’s Bone Broth is primarily formulated for dogs, many cat parents use it as an occasional meal enhancer with very positive results — especially for picky eaters or cats needing a hydration boost. Bruno’s Bone Broth has no added salt or artificial additives, making it a much safer choice than human broths.
How much Bone Broth should I give my cat per day?
For cats, start with 1–2 tablespoons (15–30 ml) poured over their wet or dry food per meal. This adds moisture and palatability without overwhelming their smaller digestive system. Bone Broth is a supplement, not a meal replacement. Consult your vet if your cat has any health conditions.
Is Bruno’s Bone Broth the same as regular chicken soup or stock from the kitchen?
No — and this is very important for your cat’s safety. Human soups and stocks often contain onion, garlic, high levels of salt, and seasonings that are toxic to cats. Bruno’s Bone Broth is specifically formulated for pets with no added salt, no onion, no garlic, and no artificial flavours or preservatives.
Can I use Bone Broth to help my cat recover from illness or surgery?

We always recommend consulting your veterinarian for specific dietary guidance during recovery.

Treats
How many treats can I give my dog per day?
Treats should make up no more than 10% of your dog’s total daily calorie intake. Exceeding this can lead to nutritional imbalance or unwanted weight gain over time.
As a practical guide:
- Small dogs (under 10 kg): 1–3 small treats per day
- Medium dogs (10–25 kg): 3–5 treats per day
- Large dogs (over 25 kg): 5–8 treats per day
Always factor in treats when calculating your dog’s total daily food intake, especially if they’re on a weight management plan.
Can I use Bruno’s treats for training?
Absolutely! Bruno’s treats are an excellent training reward. For training purposes, we recommend:
- Breaking treats into smaller pieces to extend usage and manage calorie intake
- Using strong-smelling treats like dehydrated jerky (Blueberry Chicken Jerky) as high-value rewards for difficult commands
- Keeping treats fresh and accessible during short, focused training sessions
The natural, real-ingredient composition of Bruno’s treats means you can use them generously during training without worrying about artificial additives affecting your dog’s health.
Are Bruno’s treats safe for puppies?
Most Bruno’s treats are suitable for puppies from around 10–12 weeks of age. However, the texture and hardness of the treat matters:
- Dehydrated jerky treats (like Blueberry Chicken Jerky): Safe for puppies — the chewy texture can be broken into small pieces suitable for young pups
- Harder treats or chews: Introduce gradually and supervise carefully with puppies under 4 months whose adult teeth are still developing
Do Bruno’s treats contain any artificial preservatives or colours?
No. All Bruno’s Treats are made with real, natural ingredients and contain no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives.
Our dehydrated treats are gently dried at low temperatures to preserve the natural nutrition of the meat and ingredients — this is also what gives them such an intense, natural aroma that dogs go crazy for! What you see in the ingredient list is exactly what goes into every treat. No hidden chemicals, no unnecessary fillers.
Can cats eat Bruno’s treats designed for dogs?
It depends on the specific treat and ingredients. While some single-ingredient, protein-based treats may be safe for both cats and dogs, we do not recommend routinely feeding dog-specific treats to cats without checking with a veterinarian.
The key difference is that cats have unique nutritional requirements (like Taurine) that dog treats are not formulated to provide. Additionally, some ingredients safe for dogs may not be appropriate for cats.
Bruno’s offers cat-specific treat options designed specifically to meet feline nutritional needs. For the safest choice, stick to treats formulated for your pet’s species.
What makes Bruno’s treats healthier than regular store-bought treats?
Most commercial pet treats are loaded with artificial colours, flavours, preservatives, by-products, and cheap fillers like sugar, salt, or corn starch — ingredients that add palatability but zero nutritional value.
Bruno’s treats are different:
- Made with real, named meat as the primary ingredient (e.g., real chicken, real blueberries)
- Gently dehydrated to preserve nutritional value without high-heat destruction
- Free from artificial additives, by-products, and unnecessary fillers
- Functional — each treat delivers real nutritional benefits like antioxidants, lean protein, and essential amino acids
